Desharkatha: 35th Anniversary

The CPI(M) will work to increase its own strength and forge a wider Left platform to counter the aggressive implementation of the neo-liberal policies by the Modi government. At the same time it will work to bring together all the Left, democratic and secular forces to oppose the attempts of the Hindutva forces to endanger the secular fabric and communal harmony in the country. CPI(M) General secretary Prakash Karat said this in Agartala in a meeting to mark the completion of 35 years of Desher Katha.  He said that with the BJP assuming power at Centre Indian politics has taken a rightward shift and the reactionary forces are on the offensive. He stressed on the role of the Leftist media in this challenging time.
Polit Bureau Member and Tripura Chief minister Manik Sarkar too stressed on making the paper more attractive and asked it to engage in polemics to unearth the motivated false propaganda by the corporate and anti communist media and be responsive to the aspirations of the readers and be very cautious as a silly mistake may mislead the masses and prompt them to take wrong decisions. He appealed to the masses to support Daily Desher Katha in its future endeavours. Editor of DDK Gautam Das presided over the program. CPI(M) state secretary Bijan Dhar was present on the dias. Veteran employees of the paper were felicitated on the occasion.
