Mar 21, 2014

Congress has made the country bankrupt. Loot of government money and burdening the common people was the only motto of the Congress. BJP under the leadership of Modi is trying to destroy the secular fabric of our country. Left is the only reliable force in the country to check the growth of these evil forces. Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) called upon the people to elect the Left for a secular and democratic alternative in the country while addressing a joint meeting of the CPI and the CPI(M) at Chatrapur in Odisha today. Comrade Ali Kishor Patnaik filed his nomination papers on behalf of the CPI(M) for the Lok Sabha and Comrade RK Nayak filed his papers on behalf of the CPI to the state assembly.

There was also a huge public meeting in Chatrapur town presided by veteran CPI leader and ex-MLA Comrade Biswanath Sahu. Speaking at the meeting, Yechury reminded the people that when Navin Patnaik could not bring any money from Centre to help the victims of cyclone Phailin, it was the Left leaders who met the Prime Minister and the President and ensured that rehabilitation measures took off. People could judge from their own experience as to who stood by them and who did not.

Comrade Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary of the CPI called up on the people to fight back the evil forces, for which the unity of the Left forces is essential. Comrade Janardan Pati, Secretary of the Odisha state committee of the CPI(M), Dibankar Nayak, Secretary of the state committee of CPI, Comrade Ali Kishor Patnaik and several others spoke in the meeting. Ex MLA, N. Narayan Reddy thanked the people and contributions were also made for the campaign.
