Huge Mobilisations in Tamluk

May 11, 2014

As the countdown for the last phase of the elections begins, Left Front Chairman and CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member, Biman Basu, called upon the people to defy the Trinamool Congress’ threats and cast their votes fearlessly.  He said that people should be vigilant and not let their defences waiver even for a single second as the TMC goons will make all attempts to capture booths in all constituencies going to the polls tomorrow.

Biman Basu was speaking after leading two massive roadshows in Tamluk Parliamentary constituency concluding the campaign of the Left Front candidate Sk Ibrahim yesterday. Disregarding the ‘fatwa’ issued by TMC leader Subhendu Adhikari banning Left Front rallies, people came out in large numbers to attend the road shows.

There has been a spate of violence  directed at the CPI(M) and the Left parties in the two parliamentary constituencies of the Purba Medinipur district, Tamluk and Kanthi. Tapas Sinha the CPI(M) candidate from Tamluk had to be hospitalized consequent to injuries he suffered during an attack on him on May 9.

The turnout at the mobilizations on May 10 were very encouraging and far exceeded the expectations of the organizers.

Speaking at Chaitnyapur, Biman Basu said that the BJP-TMC war of words is staged and that their economic policies are no different. They had looted the pockets of the common people in the Saradha scam and now they were looting they are attempting to loot their votes, he said.
