Resist Violence -- Manik Sarkar

May 05, 2014
On May 3, in two separate meetings held at Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas, the Tripura Chief Minister and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Manik Sarkar told the people that this election will determine the course of country’s future. He drew their attention to the reality of the two Indias -- one that of the billion poor and the other of the wealth reeking 122 corporate dynasties.  He was confident that the people of Bengal will not support the TMC which has been a partner in the anti people policies carried out both by the Congress and the BJP.

Manik Sarkar said that the people within three years of the TMC rule have recognised its true character. Mamata’s authoritarian character is throttling democracy in the state. The TMC government is fast losing its credibility. This is making them resort to violence, which was witnessed in the last phase of the elections in the state.

Pointing out to the declining shape of Bengal’s economy, Manik Sarkar said that industries face a bleak future under the present government; industrial projects are moving to other states and people are losing employment opportunities.  But TMC supremo still maintains that 90 per cent of the development work promised by her has already been completed!

The Tripura Chief Minister urged the people of Madhyamgram and Kakinara to elect candidates of the Left Front. He said that this would strengthen the Left, which stands for a government based on alternative policies at the centre. Manik Sarkar, urged the people to cast their own votes fearlessly and asked them to resist if they are stopped from casting their votes. Based on the experience in Tripura, he said, in the face of such peoples’ resistance cowards would be forced to retreat.
