Mar 29, 2014
CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury addressed two public meetings in Balipara and Biswanath Chariali  in Assam on 28th March as part of ongoing election campaign for the Tezpur constituency going to polls on April 7th.

At Balipara the meeting was presided by Rabin Tamuli, district secretary, Sonitpur. The second meeting at Biswanath Chariali was presided  by District Secretariat member, Hem Baruah.

Sitaram Yechury emphasized on the fact that upcoming Lok Sabha elections are very important since they will decide the fate of the country. He urged upon the people  that they must not give Congress another chance at any cost and should dismiss all fake claims about the 'development plans' of the BJP. Congress and BJP's position on economic policies, he said, has always been the same. Therefore, he said, BJP is no alternative to the Congress's anti people policies. The only alternative available to the people of this country, Yechury pointed out, is the Left.

Both the meeting were very well attended. In Balipara there were about 5000 people including tea garden labourers, workers from unorganised sector, farmers and people from different communities. The meeting at Biswanath Charili was also attended by about 3000 people including farmers and workers.
