UPA and NDA Pursue Policies Contrary to Bhagat Singh's Ideals: Brinda Karat

Mar 25, 2014

On the occasion of the 83rd martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev an impressive rally was held at Khatkat Kalan, native village of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on March 23. Over 3000 workers of the CPI(M), CPI, CPM Punjab (Pasla Group) and CPI (ML) Liberation participated.

Addressing the rally CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member Brinda Karat paid rich tributes to these martyrs and said that they had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. Condemning the UPA Government at the centre and Akali-BJP Government in Punjab, she said that pro-imperialist economic policies pursued by both these governments were contrary to the ideals that were dear to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. The ruling parties both at the Centre and the state are allowing FDI in every sector of our country including in multi-brand retail and the defence sector. Such parties and governments have no moral right to observe the martyrdom day of these martyrs she underlined.

Similarly, those parties who are responsible for the massacre of thousands of Sikhs and Muslims also have no right to observe such days she said. Brinda Karat called to reject the Congress and defeat the BJP in the forthcoming elections.

The rally was also addressed by Charan Singh Virdi, State Secretary CPI(M), Bant Brar State Secretary CPI and Mangat Ram Pasla State Secretary, CPM, Punjab. Balbir Singh Jadla CPI(M) candidate party from Anandpur Sahib also spoke.
