Varanasi: Party's Campaign Peaks

May 09, 2014

As the campaign for the elections to the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency nears its end, CPI(M) candidate Hiralal Yadav and countless Party workers have stepped up their door to door visits. Side by side, the Party is also conducting big and small public meetings and taking out processions in various parts of the constituency.

Party squads are spreading out to all the villages and towns in the constituency. In the last few days CPI(M) teams visited villages in Darekhu, Birbhan Pur and Koniya appealing to the people to vote for Hiralal Yadav. Various mass organisations are conducting campaigns independently.

Justifying the denial of permission to the BJP to hold a meeting at Beniyabagh, the CPI(M) candidate said that this would have led to tensions in the area. He also warned against electing Modi from Varanasi, saying that it will deliver a severe blow to communal harmony in the city. CPI(M)'s former MLA Deenanath Yadav said if Modi was inaccessible even during his recent road show, imagine how difficult will it be to meet or approach him if he wins. He said that people faced difficulty even in meeting the sitting BJP MP from Varanasi. He termed the possibility of Modi becoming the Prime Minister as remote, while the chances of the formation of a non-Congress and non-BJP government, is very strong. Hiralal emphasised that since trends indicate such a possibility, it is important to augment the Left’s strength in parliament to push for pro-people policies.
