Comrade Bellarmin, aged 60 years, the CPI (M) candidate for the Kanyakumari Parliamentary constituency, is a post graduate in Arts from Annamalai University and holds a degree in Law as well. He has led many struggles in Kanyakumari on the problems of the people. He has held responsibilities in the General Workers’ Union, the Fish Wokers’ Union and the Union of Construction Workers in Kanyakumari district and fought for the rights of workers. He is currently a member of the District Secretariat of the Party. Bellarmin had won the LokSabha election in 2004 from Nagercoil constituency and had functioned effectively as MP. He has then served as mmber of the Standing Committees on Defense and on External Affairs. He had contested the LokSabha elections in 2009 from Kanyakumari. He is married to Anbuchelvi and has a daughter and a son
