G.Anandan

Comrade Anandan, aged 53 years, the CPI(M) candidate for the Viluppuram Parliamentary constituency, is a member of the State Committee of the CPI(M). A Dalit, he has completed SSLC. He joined the Party in 1983 and has been a full time worker of the Party for 31 years now. He was imprisoned in Cuddalore jail for 15 days for his participation in the struggle against the hike in bus fares in1991. He has taken part in many struggles including the Kangeyanur temple entry struggle and agitations for remunerative prices for sugar. He was badly injured in the lathi charge by the police in the Kangeyanur struggle. He has been in prison for a total of 50 days in the cause of the people. He is married to Sakthi, a member of the state committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association. He has two daughters named Janaki and Jhansi Rani, and a son named Johnson.
