Shri Joyce George the CPI (M) supported independent candidate from Idukki, is an active figure in the High range agrarian struggles. He is a practicing advocate in the Kerala High Court . Shri Joice George is also the legal advisor to High Range Protection Council and used to represent the issues of the farmers especially those related to the Kasturirangan Report before the Supreme Court of India. At present he is representing them before the National Green Tribunal in the cases pertaining to the Gadgil Committee Report and the Kasturirangan Committee report. Shri Joice George is a very popular and dynamic organizer in the district and is known for his oratory skills. In 1991 he was elected as the Chairman of the Newman College Students Union. Later he graduated from KE College Mannanam and passed MSW from Layola College, Thiruvananthapuram. He obtained his LLB degree from Govt. Law College, Thiruvananthapuram. Shri. Joice George is contesting from the Idukki constituency located mostly in the hill area where the people are threatened of eviction from their land and other similar consequences of the order issued based on Kasturirangan report. The issue of implementation of Kasturirangan report is being fiercely debated in the area and the Congress lead UDF is facing serious opposition from High Range Farmers.
