Com. A.N. Shamseer is contesting to Lok Sabha as CPI(M) candidate from Vatakara constituency. A known fighter for protecting the interests and rights of the students and youth in the country, Com. Shamseer is currently Joint Secretary of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and all India Vice President of DYFI. He led many struggles as a student union leader and was attacked brutally by police and RSS goondas. RSS tried to take his life many times when Kannur unit of the CPI(M) was under attack by Sangh Parivar. Com. Shamseer, a graduate in Philosophy and Law, also completed his post graduation in Anthropology and Law (LLM). He is a member of CPI(M) Kannur district committee. Shamseer entered into politics by organizing students while he was a school student. He is the first elected University Union Chairman of Kannur University. Later Com. Shamseer became the State Secretary and all India Joint Secretary of Students Federation of India. Under his leadership a Kannur based palliative care centre for cancer patients was started and he is working as chairman of the same. Com. Shamseer is currently the president of Thalassery Co-operative Hospital. He is known for his crystal clear stands on various issues in political debates in electronic media.
