Speaking at a huge gathering at Domkal and Jalangi in Murshidabad district on April 20th 2014, in support of the CPI (M) candidate Badrudozza Khan, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Surjya Kanta Mishra said that the Chief Minister was keen to safeguard the interest of chit fund owners but she hardly had any feelings for the investors ruined by the chit funds. He asked why the CM was so scared about the CBI probe. He further said that the Left Front always demanded CBI enquiry on the Saradha scam. Dr. Mishra also said that whatever the Enforcement Directorate could find out in their probe was just the tip of the iceberg.

Dr. Mishra said that the TMC government had governed the State to facilitate the misdeeds of the friends of the TMC. The state witnessed steady development during Left Front government’s period. Now, the people of the state were regularly experiencing atrocities on on women, extortion of people, suicide of farmers and irregularities in Teachers’ Eligibility Test. They had established the state as a model in terms of scams. Development of the state had totally been stalled. There was no employment generation. There was no scope for new industry. Even the proposed industries could not be started due to the extortions by the ruling party. The law and order situation was at its worst state of deterioration. The freedom of speech was also under tremendous threat, added Dr. Mishra.
Dr. Mishra also elaborated on the anti-people policies pursued by both Congress and BJP. The fundamentalist face of BJP was an additional threat for the country, he added. He gave a call to the people to defeat the anti-people forces and ensure a democratic, pro-people alternative at the centre by increasing the voice of the Left Front inside the Parliament.
