P.B. Communiqué

The CPI(M) demands that such "reconversion" based on false assurances and inducements and with State patronage be prohibited with immediate effect. Action should be taken under the relevant provisions of the law against those who are organizing such activities which are disruptive of communal harmony and creating communal tensions. The U.P. government has already registered cases and taken action against the organisers of the Agra “reconversion”. This must be done by other state governments too.

The CPI(M) and the Left parties have been protesting against the exorbitant rise in the price of unsubsidized gas cylinders and the ceiling on subsidized gas cylinders of nine per year. Protests against this price rise were held in various parts of the country. .....However, the oil companies continue to insist on Aadhar linkage for the supply of subsidized gas cylinders and payment of the full market price for the cylinder on delivery and reimbursement later. The Polit Bureau demands the scrapping of the Aadhar linkage and the delivery of the twelve cylinders at subsidized rates, as earlier.

Central Committee Communique

The Central Committee noted that the Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and the Law Minister Ashwani Kumar, were finally forced to resign after the Prime Minister and the Congress party resisted this demand while the parliament session was on. This has exposed the hypocrisy of the Congress which has blamed the opposition for the disruption of the parliamentary proceedings since the wrong-doing of the ministers became known.

CC Communique

The Central Committee noted that the brutal murder of T.P. Chandrasekaran is being utilised to conduct a concerted campaign against the Party. The Central Committee condemned the efforts of the UDF government which has directed the police to falsely implicate Party leaders and cadres in this case. The Party has already declared that it is not involved in the murder of Chandrasekaran and had strongly condemned it. The Party does not believe in the elimination of political opponents.

On T.P. Chandrasekharan's Murder

On T.P. Chandrasekharan Murder
and the Campaign Against the CPI(M)

(Excerpts from Speech by Prakash Karat, General Secretary, CPI(M) on E.K. Nayanar Day on May 19, 2012 at Kalliasseri in Kannur District)

The Communist movement in Kannur and in Kerala grew by fighting imperialism and feudal landlordism. By consistently championing the people’s interests. It grew by building the working class and peasant movements.

All this was possible due to the superior ideology and correct politics of the Communist Party. We have seen how our movement was subject to physical attacks and violence by the reactionary forces. Here in Kannur district in the 1970s employers and capitalists imported goondas belonging to the RSS to attack beedi workers and their unions. This was the origin of the RSS violence against the communists.
