Eastern Jatha to Start on March 1

The Eastern jatha of Sangharsh Sandesh that will be led by Prakash Karat, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) will be flagged off tomorrow at 10.00 AM in Kolkata. This jatha, starting in West Bengal, will travel through the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and culminate in Delhi on 14th March 2013.

The Guwahati sub-jatha that had started on the 23 February and covered the Northern districts of West Bengal will merge with the Eastern jatha in Kolkata. The Odisha sub-jatha that had started in Parlakemundi and covered the entire state of Odisha too will merge with the Eastern jatha.

Biman Bose, Polit Bureau member and Secretary of the West Bengal state committee of the CPI (M) will preside over the inaugural meeting of the Eastern jatha. He will also be accompanying Prakash Karat in the jatha.

Jogendra Sharma, member of the Central Secretariat and Central Committee members Subhashini Ali and J.S. Majumdar are the other members of the jatha.
