Govt. Formation in J & K

The formation of the government of Jammu & Kashmir has become complicated because of the nature of the result and a hung Assembly. The BJP, which benefited from the polarization in the Jammu region, is trying to impose its political design in the formation of the government. This should be resisted in the interests of the unity of the state and safeguarding its special status. It is imperative that a secular government is formed in Jammu & Kashmir and the secular forces should rise to the occasion keeping in mind the larger interests of the unity and integrity of our country.

Prohibit Forcible Reconversion

The BJP and RSS leaders are demanding a law to ban forcible religious conversions. There is no need for such a law as Article 25 of the Indian Constitution provides for “freedom of conscience and free profession, practice and propagation of religions”. The Polit Bureau urges upon both the state government in Uttar Pradesh and the central government to take firm steps to stop such conversions.

On Assembly Election Results

The defeat is more resounding as the Congress could not dislodge the BJP from the governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh where the latter has been in power for ten years. The misrule and corruption of the BJP governments in these two states did not lead the people to opt for the Congress

On Patna Bomb Blasts

These cowardly attacks once again highlight the urgent need to strengthen intelligence against terror attacks. Governments at the Centre and the state have to coordinate to ensure that the real culprits are arrested. The Polit Bureau calls upon the people of Bihar to maintain and strengthen their unity.

Maintain Peace in J&K

Despite aberrations, the people of the state have maintained communal harmony and brotherhood till now. Attempts to sow discord among the people on religious and communal lines must be defeated. People should not get swayed by rumor mongers and provocations of divisive elements, who are out to disrupt peace in the state.
