Probe Allegations of Corruption

CPI(M) Kerala State Committee Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has demanded a thorough inquiry into allegations about corrupt practices in the issue of renewal of Bar license in the state. He said that the investigation should not be confined only to allegations as far as the Finance Minister K.M. Mani is concerned but should also probe whether the Chief Minister is involved and the role of the Excise Minister K Babu. He was addressing media persons at a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram today.

Vijayan said that there is nothing about shocking about these allegations as many stories to this effect were already circulating in the corridors of power. The allegation regarding the pay off of Rs. 15 crores is just the tip of the ice berg, he said and added that any ministers in the cabinet are bar owners or partners and always keep the bar owners in good humor.
