Memo to Election Commission: West Bengal Elections
West Bengal’s electoral history is unique characterized by abnormally heavy voter turnout underlining the peaceful, free and fair character with massive popular participation under the strictest scrutiny of the EC. A number of times the Election Commission and its observers have put these on record. Particularly during the 2006 elections, the EC had organized it under unprecedented security arrangements. So much so, that the elections were held in five phases and both security and other election officials were largely drawn from outside the state.
Left Front Victory in Tripura Civic Elections
The Left Front has won a majority in 13 out of the 15 nagar panchayats. It has also retained the Agartala Municipal Council by winning 28 out of the 35 seats. The Left Front has won 81 per cent of the seats in the municipal council and the nagar panchayats.This decisive victory is confirmation of the confidence that the people of Tripura repose in the CPI(M) and the Left Front.
Condemn Killings in West Bengal
This incident shows the extent of violence that is being unleashed against the CPI(M) and the Left in West Bengal while the Trinamul Congress and its leader Mamata Banerjee campaigns that there is no law and order in the state of West Bengal.
