Yeddyurappa Should Resign
With this indictment, Yeddyurappa has no other option but to resign from office. After the report is submitted, all those named for wrongdoing should be prosecuted under the law. The BJP leadership cannot prevaricate in this matter any more. It must own up full responsibility for instituting a government in Karnataka which is riddled with the mining mafia and those patronizing them.
Brazen Constitutional Impropriety in Karnataka
Any disqualification of an MLA can occur only after the vote when the party whip has been violated. Further, this cannot apply to independent MLAs. The Yeddyurappa government refused to have a division of votes in the House and relied on a voice vote to claim majority.
Karnataka: Take Action On Illegal Mining
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that the illegal mining activities and export of iron ore from Karnataka be handed over to the CBI for investigation. The two ministers who are directly involved in the mining affairs should step down immediately.
