Maoist Killings Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Maoist attack in Sukma district of Chattisgarh which has resulted in the killing of eleven paramilitary jawans, four policemen and a civilian. This brazen ambush in a region which has seen repeated Maoist attacks highlights the inadequacies of the security strategy meant to deal with the Maoist violence.

On Assembly Election Results

The defeat is more resounding as the Congress could not dislodge the BJP from the governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh where the latter has been in power for ten years. The misrule and corruption of the BJP governments in these two states did not lead the people to opt for the Congress

Barbaric Maoist Attack Condemned

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the barbaric attack by the Maoists on a convoy carrying Congress leaders participating in the ‘parivartan yatra’ of the party in Bastar district of Chattisgarh. The attack has led to the death of 18 people including senior Congress leaders like the state Congress President and injuries to several others. This is the latest and most shocking example of the politics of violence and terror practiced by the Maoists against all their political opponents.

Judicial Probe Into Bijapur Incident

The truth must be established about the Centre and State Government’s claims of an encounter between armed Maoists and its forces. The terrible plight of villagers, mainly tribals, caught in the violence between the Maoists on the one hand and the State forces on the other has led to a wide questioning of the methods used by the forces in the name of fighting Maoists which ends up targeting the most exploited sections of our society.
