Withdraw the HRD Order

The Human Resources Development Ministry has taken yet another offensive and unjustifiable decision to ask CBSE and other government-run schools to observe “good governance day” on Christmas day, December 25. Already the Navodaya schools’ management have decided that the schools will remain open on December 24 and 25.This is a crude interference in the schedule of schools which go on Christmas vacation from December 24 and is an assault on the religious right of the Christian community. The Polit Bureau demands the withdrawal of this communally motivated instruction. If the government wants to observe “good governance day” on December 25, it should do so without involving the schools.

New BJP President

The new BJP President has been chargesheeted and is undergoing trial on the serious charge of murder connected with false encounters when he was the Home Minister in Gujarat. The Election Commission had prohibited him from participating in the election campaign in Uttar Pradesh during the Lok Sabha polls for making communal speeches. By this choice of President, the BJP has declared its intent to pursue the type of communal politics and agenda that was practiced in Gujarat.

Convention Resolution

At present, the communal forces are once again seeking to raise communal issues and create communal tensions. In the light of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the communal campaign has been intensified. This has resulted in outbreak of communal incidents in various parts of the country. The riots in Muzaffarnagar are the most glaring example.

On Patna Bomb Blasts

These cowardly attacks once again highlight the urgent need to strengthen intelligence against terror attacks. Governments at the Centre and the state have to coordinate to ensure that the real culprits are arrested. The Polit Bureau calls upon the people of Bihar to maintain and strengthen their unity.

Note to NIC meeting

The causes for the communal violence are the same as in the past – religious processions moving through mixed areas and provocations taking place; allegations of harassment of young women belonging to a particular community by persons of another community; inflammatory propaganda which leads to a climate of mistrust and any incident can spark off a wider conflict. But what is more disturbing is that riots are sought to be spread in the rural areas as it happened in Muzaffarnagar. In all such riots, it is the minority community which ultimately bears the brunt of the violence in terms of deaths and destruction of property.

Prosecute Narendra Modi

The CPI(M) demands that Narender Modi should be prosecuted in the concerned cases and should forthwith step down from office. It calls for a Supreme Court supervised inquiry to uncover the full facts in the CD case so as to file criminal charges against those involved. In the meanwhile the bail of Amit Shah should be cancelled.
