Chidambaram's Absurd Charges
By covering up the Maoist violence and the Maoist-TMC collaboration, Chidambaram has betrayed the elementary duty entrusted to him as the Home Minister of the country. The egregious and partisan manner in which Chidambaram is behaving will only call into question the way he is handling the key office of Home Minister in the government.

West Bengal’s electoral history is unique characterized by abnormally heavy voter turnout underlining the peaceful, free and fair character with massive popular participation under the strictest scrutiny of the EC. A number of times the Election Commission and its observers have put these on record. Particularly during the 2006 elections, the EC had organized it under unprecedented security arrangements. So much so, that the elections were held in five phases and both security and other election officials were largely drawn from outside the state.

PB Communique
The CPI(M) opposes the present approach of the UPA Government on the Food Security Bill, which seeks to provide legal sanction to the exclusion of vast sections of the people from the PDS based on the flawed poverty estimates. This will be even worse than the current situation where the States can move towards a universal PDS combining their own schemes with central allocations.
