Price Rise

The Left parties – the CPI(M), CPI, AIFB and RSP – have decided to hold an All India Rally at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on March 12, 2010. The rally is being held to highlight the urgent problems faced by the people and to spell out the Left parties' demands to solve the problems.

The CC condemns not only the utter failure of the Central Government to control prices but reiterates that it is precisely the wrong policies of the government which have led to this situation of high food inflation. The redressals suggested are also misconceived.

The CCP decision to make an additional allocation of 10 kg of wheat or rice to all eligible card holders under the TPDS not at the present central issue price of foodgrains but at the higher minimum support price, far from being a help to control prices as being claimed by the Government, will in effect import price rise into the TPDS itself.
